About Me

My name is Eileen Mooney. Born in Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, Ireland.  I have just completed my Fourth Year of studying a B.A. in Art and Design Education at the National College of Art and Design. Throughout my four years in NCAD, I have gained experience teaching in a variety of schools ranging from Primary, Post-Primary, and Special Educational Needs Schools.

"The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery" (Mark van Doren).

During my Classroom Practice experience I have taught a diverse range of schemes including: Ceramics, Cardboard Construction, Lino Printing, Poster Design, Jigsaw Making, Mask Making, Painting, Papier Mache with mixed media, Wire Drawing, Life Drawing, Still Life. Origami, Pattern Making, Imaginative Composition, Screen Printing, T-Shirt Design, History of Art, Up-cycling Project and Digital Media (Photoshop and Video).

But not only have I been a teacher in training but I was lucky to gain practice across various disciplines but I specialised in Ceramics.  My Studio Practice aims to exploit Ceramics to communicate narratives based on Interpersonal Relationships experienced throughout my journey of discovery.  I analysed these interpersonal relationships through extensive research based on animal characteristics versus human qualities, resulting in an amalgamation of both to create conclusions into a physical form.

"The unexpected and incredible belong to this World.
Only then is life made whole" (Carl Jung).
